To the People of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia,
On behalf of myself, my wife Laura, and everyone here at REL-MAR McConnell Media Company, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to each and every one of you following the tragic events of Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
There are moments in a nation’s life when words feel far too small to carry the weight of sorrow. This is one of those moments. The loss of beloved members of your community has shaken not only Tumbler Ridge, but communities across British Columbia and throughout all of Canada. When tragedy strikes a close-knit town such as yours, it is not just individual families who grieve — it is an entire community, and indeed a nation, that mourns together.
Our hearts ache for the families who have lost loved ones, for those who were injured, and for friends, neighbours, classmates, and colleagues whose lives have been forever changed. We cannot begin to understand the depth of your pain, but please know that you do not carry it alone. Canadians from coast to coast stand with you in compassion, in prayer, and in unwavering support.
We also extend our sincere gratitude to the RCMP and all first responders who acted swiftly and courageously in the face of unimaginable circumstances. Their dedication and service reflect the very best of our country during its most difficult hours.
Tumbler Ridge is known for its strength, its unity, and its spirit. In the days ahead — as flags fly at half mast and the nation reflects — may you find comfort in one another, in the love that surrounds you, and in the knowledge that all of Canada holds you close in its heart.
