TIKTOK SILENCES “JUSTICE FOR RENEE” WHILE PROFITING FROM PROVOCATIVE CONTENT

TikTok has refused to publish my original song and video, “Justice for Renee,” a tribute to Renee Nicole Good — a 37-year-old mother of three who was shot and killed during an ICE operation. The video was rejected for “community guidelines,” despite containing no violence, no graphic imagery, no hate speech, and no incitement — only music, truth, and a call for justice.
Yet every day, TikTok allows an endless stream of sexually suggestive content — including minors dancing provocatively — to circulate freely, rack up millions of views, and generate advertising revenue.
This raises a disturbing question:
Why is a peaceful call for justice censored while exploitative and harmful content thrives?
A PATTERN OF SILENCING
TikTok’s moderation system is not neutral. It is driven by automated filters and opaque internal policies that have repeatedly been shown to suppress:
• Content about police shootings
• Immigration enforcement
• Protests and civil rights
• Victims of state violence
• Activism and advocacy
• Political criticism
The phrase “Justice for Renee,” the mention of ICE, or even the depiction of a real victim can trigger algorithmic flags — even when the content is factual, respectful, and nonviolent.
Artists, journalists, and activists across the world report the same thing:
TikTok suppresses uncomfortable truth.
PROFIT OVER PROTECTION
TikTok claims to protect its community — especially children — yet its own platform regularly features:
• Minors dancing in sexualized ways
• Hyper-sexualized trends
• Algorithm-boosted “thirst trap” content
• Exploitation disguised as entertainment
These videos remain because they are profitable.
Justice is not.
Truth is not.
Victims are not.
DIGITAL CENSORSHIP IN THE AGE OF ALGORITHMS
No government needs to issue censorship orders anymore.
Algorithms do the job.
Content that challenges power, law enforcement, immigration policy, or political narratives is quietly throttled, shadow-banned, or rejected — not because it violates rules, but because it threatens comfort, advertisers, or political neutrality.
This is algorithmic suppression, and it is just as powerful as overt censorship.
RENEE DESERVED BETTER
Renee Nicole Good was not a headline.
- She was a mother.
- A poet.
- A human being.
My song was meant to give her a voice.
TikTok took it away.
WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED
