Trump Sends Billions Abroad While Americans Go Hungry

By Rob McConnell, TWATNews.com / Wednesday, October 22, 2025

A Billion-Dollar Betrayal

While food banks across America overflow with desperate families, and federal workers sit at home fired or furloughed without pay, President Donald Trump has once again demonstrated his callous disregard for his own citizens.

In the middle of the worst government shutdown in decades, Trump’s Treasury Secretary Michael Bessent confirmed a staggering $20 billion “economic stabilization agreement” with Argentina — an international payout that has left Americans asking one burning question: Why is Trump funding another country when his own people can’t afford groceries?

This deal, inked behind closed doors and rushed out for a photo opportunity, reeks of hypocrisy. As Americans line up for food, face health coverage loss, and struggle to make rent, Trump’s administration boasts of “global economic cooperation.” But for millions of ordinary Americans, that phrase translates to “America last.”

The Shutdown That Starved a Nation

Trump’s so-called leadership has plunged the United States into paralysis. The shutdown — triggered by political grandstanding and self-serving gamesmanship — has resulted in hundreds of thousands of federal employees losing their paychecks, benefits, and livelihoods.

Families who once served their country faithfully now stand in line at soup kitchens. Federal contractors are selling possessions to survive. Medical bills pile up, mortgages go unpaid, and retirement savings evaporate.

And yet, as Washington descends into chaos, Trump continues collecting his presidential salary, authorizes lavish White House renovations, and struts before cameras as though the country isn’t crumbling beneath him.

Argentina First, America Forgotten

The new $20 billion agreement with Argentina, touted as an “economic stabilization effort,” appears to be nothing more than a vanity project — a chance for Trump to play global power broker while ignoring the suffering at home.

The deal’s timing couldn’t be more offensive. While millions of Americans endure the consequences of a shutdown Trump himself engineered, their tax dollars are being shipped overseas to prop up a foreign economy.

Even more infuriating: there’s no public record showing congressional authorization for the funds. Once again, Trump acts like a king, not a president — spending the public’s money without oversight or conscience.

A President Out of Touch

Trump’s gilded sense of entitlement is now on full display. As the White House undergoes another round of gaudy “modernization” — complete with a ballroom, private dining suite, and imported gold fixtures — the people footing the bill can’t afford groceries.
He claims to be “making America great again,” but his actions prove the opposite: Americans are going broke, while Trump expands his personal palace.

Economists and ethicists alike have slammed the Argentina deal as “tone-deaf, unaccountable, and morally bankrupt.” One Washington insider called it “a textbook example of imperial arrogance — America’s workers are disposable, but Trump’s vanity projects are sacred.”

Feeding Foreigners, Failing Americans

Let’s be clear: this is not diplomacy. This is dereliction of duty. The president of the United States has effectively told his own people they come second to his image abroad.

The farmers, federal employees, and small business owners who once believed Trump cared for “the forgotten man” have learned the truth — they are the forgotten man.

As one furloughed worker in Maryland told TWATNews: “I worked 12 years for this government. I believed in it. Now I’m lining up at a food bank while my president sends billions to Argentina. It’s betrayal, plain and simple.”

When Leadership Turns Its Back

Trump’s defenders argue the deal strengthens America’s global influence. But true leadership begins at home — and right now, home is burning.

While Trump basks in self-congratulation, America’s working families are collapsing under the weight of his indifference.
A real president would be fighting to reopen the government, restore paychecks, and ensure no family goes hungry.
Trump, instead, is writing checks — not to the American people, but to foreign governments.

History Will Remember

History has a cruel memory for leaders who abandon their people in times of crisis. Trump’s obsession with power, wealth, and self-image will be remembered not for rebuilding America, but for selling out its people — one gilded deal at a time.

The billions sent abroad will eventually fade from the headlines.

But the image of hungry Americans outside shuttered federal buildings, while Trump signs billion-dollar deals beneath chandeliers of gold, will define his presidency forever.
