WHY DONALD TRUMP DOES NOT DESERVE THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE
The Nobel Committee Should Honour Peacebuilders — Not Political Performers

Once again, Donald J. Trump is campaigning for global recognition — not through an election this time, but through the Nobel Peace Prize. He’s boasted that he “brought peace to the Middle East,” and hinted that his latest “deal-making” qualifies him as a peacemaker. But the truth is simple: Trump’s record stands in direct opposition to the ideals Alfred Nobel envisioned.
Awarding Trump the world’s highest honour for peace would not only mock history — it would undermine the very meaning of the Nobel Peace Prize.
A TRACK RECORD OF CONFLICT, NOT CONSENSUS
Trump has spent years cultivating chaos, not calm. From threatening nations with “total destruction” to inflaming tensions at home and abroad, his policies have repeatedly deepened division rather than resolving it.
Peace requires dialogue, patience, and trust — none of which are part of the Trump playbook.
While true Nobel laureates work quietly to bridge divides, Trump shouts from podiums, issuing ultimatums and claiming victory before the ink is dry. His “deals” rarely last; his diplomacy is built on vanity, not values.
As one analyst from the London School of Economics recently noted, “Rewarding Trump’s diplomacy would be rewarding optics over peace.”
MILITARISM AND MANIPULATION DON’T WIN MEDALS
The Nobel Peace Prize has honoured people who dismantled nuclear weapons, brokered ceasefires, and risked their lives for human rights. Trump, by contrast, has threatened to “obliterate” adversaries, expanded military budgets, and approved drone strikes that claimed civilian lives.
No amount of political spin or campaign slogans can change that reality. Peace isn’t achieved through intimidation — it’s earned through integrity.
A CAMPAIGN OF SELF-PROMOTION
Nobel laureates are chosen for humility, humanity, and consistent service. Trump, however, has turned his supposed nomination into a campaign talking point.
He’s boasted on social media about “deserving” the award and has encouraged allies to lobby publicly on his behalf — a move that breaks with the decorum and dignity of the process.
As one member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee recently said, “The Prize is not a trophy for self-promotion.”
THE COMMITTEE KNOWS BETTER
Within the Nobel Committee itself, skepticism runs deep. Past and current members have stated openly that Trump’s record lacks the continuity and credibility required for serious consideration. His sporadic diplomacy in the Middle East and his divisive domestic record simply do not align with the spirit of Nobel’s will, which sought to reward “the person who has done the most or best work for fraternity between nations.”
Trump’s pattern of polarization — both within the U.S. and internationally — speaks for itself.
THE MORAL TEST OF THE NOBEL PRIZE
Awarding Donald Trump the Nobel Peace Prize would set a dangerous precedent: that peace can be claimed, not earned; that power outweighs principle; that headlines matter more than human lives.
History will remember those who built bridges, not walls. It will remember those who risked everything to end wars, not those who bragged about starting them.
The Nobel Peace Prize must remain a beacon of honour, not a stage for showmanship.
FINAL WORD
If the Nobel Committee truly stands for peace, compassion, and human dignity, then the choice is clear: Donald Trump does not belong among the ranks of Mandela, Mother Teresa, or Malala.
To award him would be to reward chaos, not calm — ego, not empathy.
The Nobel Peace Prize should shine on those who unite humanity, not those who divide it.
